A Stone Locomotive.

My reference to Berry Brow reminds a Whitkirk local of a model of a locomotive, with coaches attached, which — he tells me — is carved in the the station wall.

I remember as a boy — nearly forty years ago — when going on the annual choir trips from Holmfirth, there was always quite a commotion as we came near the station to catch a glimpse of this model engine. It is over thirty-three years since I left the district. Yet, even now, whenever I pass through the station, I watch for the stone engine. Perhaps some day I shall learn how it came to be there.
