Holmfirth Cricket

Unless £690 can be raised to restore Holmbridge Cricket Ground, there may be no more games on that ground. It was damaged by the Holme Valley floods on Whit Monday, 1944, when a wall was torn down and a piece of the ground 120 yards long and between 2 yards and 5 yards wide, was cut away.

Recently the River Holme, swollen by heavy rain, has been washing away the unprotected earth at the edge of the ground. Many club members believe the ground is already too small. A special club meeting to consider the matter is to be held in Holmbridge on Monday week.
