The following extract is from Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922 (2014) by J. Margaret Stansfield:

POPPLETON, WILLIE. Private. No 7269. 2nd Battalion Duke of Wellington's Regiment. Born 1879. Son of John and Naomi Poppleton, of Almondbury. Joined the army in 1902 and served in India. Died of wounds at home, 3.11.1916, aged 37 years. Buried ALMONDBURY CEMETERY. Grave location:- X, 'C', 140.
