Willie Hirst (c.1877-1917)

Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922

The following extract is from Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922 (2014) by J. Margaret Stansfield:

HIRST, WILLIE. Private. No 38609. 2nd Battalion York and Lancaster Regiment. Born Warley, Halifax. Son of the late William Hirst. Husband of Clara Hirst, 79 Swallow Lane, Golcar. Was a partner in the firm of Messrs Milnes and Hirst, painters and decorators, Leymoor Road, Golcar. Attended Scapegoat Hill Baptist Chapel. Enlisted November 1916. Killed in action, 22.4.1917, aged 39 years. Has no known grave. Commemorated LOOS MEMORIAL TO THE MISSING.
