The following extract is from Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922 (2014) by J. Margaret Stansfield:

LOCKWOOD, WILLIAM. Private. No 92380. 15th Battalion Sherwood Foresters. Born Huddersfield 20.6.1898. Son of William and Sarah Ann Lockwood, 5 Thomas Street, Northgate, Huddersfield. Educated Huddersfield Parish Church School. Employed as a cooper's apprentice at British Dyes Limited. Single. Enlisted 20.1.1917. Killed in action, 14.7.1918, aged 20 years. Has no known grave. Commemorated TYNE COT MEMORIAL TO THE MISSING.
