William Jones Crossley (1897-1918)

An ongoing project to commemorate and research the lives of those who appear on war memorials and rolls of honour in the local area, who served in the military, or whose deaths were linked to conflict.


William Jones Crossley was born in Armitage Bridge, the son of plumber John L. Crossley and his wife Annie.

He enlisted and served as a rifleman in the 1/8th Battalion of the West Yorkshire Regiment (Prince Of Wales's Own).

He died on the Western Front on 27 September 1918, and is commemorated at the Vis-en-Artois British Cemetery and on the Armitage Bridge War Memorial.
