Wilfred Hirst (1898-1918)

Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922

The following extract is from Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922 (2014) by J. Margaret Stansfield:

HIRST, WILFRED. Private. No 28992. 'C' Company, 1st Battalion East Yorkshire Regiment. Born Storthes, Moldgreen, Huddersfield, 1.6.1898. Son of Emma Hirst, 29 Highroyd Lane, Moldgreen. Educated Moldgreen Council School. Employed as a pattern man in the woollen and worsted trade. Single. Enlisted 31.1.1917. Reported missing, 22.3.1918 and afterwards presumed to have been killed on that date. Has no known grave. Commemorated POZIERES MEMORIAL TO THE MISSING.
