Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922

The following extract is from Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922 (2014) by J. Margaret Stansfield:

BIRDSALL, WILFRED. Private. No 23596. 9th Battalion Duke of Wellington's Regiment. Born 63 New Street, Paddock, 24.6.1897. Son of the late Tobias and Isabella Mona Birdsall. Educated at Paddock National School. Attended South Street Primitive Methodist Sunday School and Chapel. Employed as a basket maker. Enlisted 10.8.1916. Embarked for France, 4.12.1916. Was killed in action at Guedecourt, 25.12.1916, aged 19 years. Has no known grave. Commemorated on the THIEPVAL MEMORIAL TO THE MISSING.
