The following extract is from Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922 (2014) by J. Margaret Stansfield:

ELLIS, WESTON. Private. No 5109. 2nd Battalion Sherwood Foresters. Born Wood Royd 22.3.1882. Son of Charles Ewart and Hannah Ellis, 13 Lower Park, Berry Brow. Educated Farnley Tyas School. Employed as a motor driver at the Commercial Mills, Firth Street, Huddersfield. Widower. Enlisted August 1914. Wounded whilst leaving his billet in France on 13.2.1916. Died of wounds to stomach at No 2 Casualty Clearing Station, 15.2.1916, 33 years. Buried BAILLEUL COMMUNAL CEMETERY EXTENSION. Grave location:- Plot 2, Row C, Grave 144.
ROH:- St. Stephen's Church, Rashcliffe.
Brother of Private HUBERT ELLIS reported missing, 28.4.1917.
