  1. This may have been Giles Sykes (1877-1920) who was recorded living at Crosland Factory and Woodbottom in the census returns.
  2. Likely Private Albert Winterbottom (#308176) who served with the Duke of Wellington's (West Riding Regiment) and died 30 August 1918. This was probably Albert Winterbottom of Midhopestones who was living at Upper Cote Farm, Meltham, at the time of the 1911 Census.
