Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922

The following extract is from Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922 (2014) by J. Margaret Stansfield:

WADSWORTH, WALTER. Private. No 16124. 8th Battalion Duke of Wellington's Regiment. Born Bradley Mills, Huddersfield, 12.9.1889. Son of Herbert Wadsworth, 12 Fieldhouse Lane, off Leeds Road, Huddersfield. Educated St. Andrew's School, Leeds Road, Huddersfield. Employed as a pit head worker at Messrs Brook's pottery, Leeds Road, Huddersfield. Married, with two children. Enlisted 28.5.1915. Served in Egypt and the Dardenelles. Embarked for France in June, 1916. Killed in action, 14.9.1916, during the Battle of the Somme. He was 33 years of age. Buried HEATH CEMETERY, HARBONNIERES. Grave location:- Plot 7, Row L, Grave 4.
Brother of Private EDGAR WADSWORTH killed in action, 20.9.1917.
