Walter Hebblethwaite (1896-1918)

Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922

The following extract is from Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922 (2014) by J. Margaret Stansfield:

HEBBLETHWAITE, WALTER. Private. No 105825. 177th Company, Labour Corps. Formerly No R/27584. 23rd Battalion King's Royal Rifle Corps. Born 77 Cliffe End Road, Huddersfield, 8.3.1896. Son of Herbert and Caroline Hebblethwaite. Educated Longwood National School. Was a chorister at Longwood Parish Church. Employed as a yarn warehouseman. Enlisted 27.2.1916. Wounded at Delville Wood, 20.8.1916. Accidentally killed in a railway accident at Mariolles, Northern France, on 11.12.1918, aged 22 years. Buried St. SOUPLET BRITISH CEMETERY. Grave location:- Maroilles Communal Cemetery German Extension Memorial No 1.
