Walter Hartley (c.1886-1916)

Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922

The following extract is from Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922 (2014) by J. Margaret Stansfield:

HARTLEY, WALTER. Driver. No 36121. 60th Howitzer Battery, Royal Field Artillery. Born Lane Bottom, Walsden, Todmorden. Educated Todmorden National and Secondary School. Married, with one child. Lived Clegg's Row, Shepley. Employed as a postman. Enlisted August 1914. Served with the Persian Gulf Expedition. Died in Mesopotamia, 25.7.1916, aged 30 years. Buried AMARA WAR CEMETERY. Grave location:- Plot 7, Row C, Grave 2.
