Thomas Robson Currie (1844-1858)

Thomas Robson Currie was the son of Andrew and Jane Currie, and was baptised on 19 June 1844 at St. James, Toxteth, Liverpool.

By the late 1850s he was an orphan residing at 54 Great Newton Street, Liverpool, and working as a railway clerk. His uncle resided at Eastfield House, Lodge Lane, Liverpool.

He was one of three passengers who were killed on 18 June 1858 when five runaway railway goods waggons collided with a L&NWR passenger train travelling from Huddersfield to Manchester as it passed through Springwood Junction to the south of Huddersfield Railway Station. He was taken to Huddersfield Infirmary where he was found to have "compound fracture of both legs". He died at around 5:30pm.

Probate was eventually granted in August 1861 to his sister, Sibble Mariane Currie of Seacombe Street, Everton.
