The following extract is from Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922 (2014) by J. Margaret Stansfield:

DEAKIN, THOMAS. Sergeant. No 25420. 'A' Battery, 28th Brigade Royal Field Artillery. Born Cadeby, Doncaster. Lived 16 Moss Street, Newsome, Huddersfield. Had served as a constable in the Metropolitan Police force before joining Huddersfield Borough Police Force on 10.11.1911. Husband of Nora Deakin. Enlisted 1915. Died of wounds 21.9.1917, aged 32 years. Buried BUS HOUSE CEMETERY, VOORMEZEELE. Grave location:- Row H, Grave 30.
