Tom Moorhouse and Son, Limited
History
T. Moorhouse & Son, Ltd. are carriers and haulage contractors, originally based at 2 Marsh, Honley.
The business was established in circa 1887 by carrier Tom Moorhouse (1852-1940)[1] By the time of 1901 Census, his son Fred was working as an "errand boy for his father".
An invoice from July 1944 named the then partners as Fred and Stanley Moorhouse.[2] The firm advertised "efficient drivers" and "reasonable terms", with a motto of "we can take it".
The firm placed the following notice in the "Lost and Found" section of the Yorkshire Post (14/May/1948):
Lost between Bradford and Yeadon, via Greengates, one paper sack of Artificial Silk Fibre, weight 65lb. Finder please communicate with Tom Moorhouse and Son, Ltd., 2, Marsh, Honley, nr. Huddersfield. Reward offered.
As of 2016, the company is run by the founder's great grandchildren.

Married 1877 to Charlotte Oldfield. Died 9 December 1940 and buried on 12 December at St. Mary's Church, Honley.
