The following extract is from Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922 (2014) by J. Margaret Stansfield:

WALKER, SYKES. Private. No 14546. 10th Battalion Duke of Wellington's Regiment. Born Dalton, Huddersfield. Husband of Mary Walker, 45 Kirkgate, Huddersfield. Employed by Messrs John Kaye and Sons, Kings Mill, Huddersfield. Enlisted November 1914. Embarked for France in November, 1915. Killed in action at Munster Alley on 29.8.1916 during the Battle of the Somme, aged 40. Buried PEAKE WOOD CEMETERY, FRICOURT. Grave location:- Row B, Grave 24.
