Sidney Rowland Ingram (1894-1917)

Sidney Rowland Ingram was born on 15 May 1894.

The following extract is from Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922 (2014) by J. Margaret Stansfield:

INGRAM, SIDNEY ROWLAND. Corporal. No PO/1397(S). Royal Marine Light Infantry, 1st Royal Marine Battalion, Royal Naval Division. Born Shildon, County Durham. Son of Thomas and Eliza Ingram, 2 Duke Street, Huddersfield. Educated Bradley Board School, Huddersfield. Attended the High Street Chapel. Employed as manager of Messrs Wallace's grocery shop in Bradford Road, Huddersfield. At the time of enlistment, was living at Fairfield House, Grange Avenue, Birkby. Single. Enlisted 8.2.1916. Killed in action on Passchendaele Ridge, 26.10.1917, aged 23 years. Has no known grave. Commemorated TYNE COT MEMORIAL TO THE MISSING.
