The following extract is from Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922 (2014) by J. Margaret Stansfield:
- ASHURST, SHORROCK. Private. No 205120. 1/7th Battalion Duke of Wellington's Regiment. Born Barrow-in-Furness. Lived with his wife and child at Bellmount House, Luck Lane, Marsh. Was in business as a draper at New Street and formerly in King Street. Killed by a shell, 9.10.1917, aged 36. Commemorated on the TYNE COT MEMORIAL TO THE MISSING.
