A £1,300,000 PURCHASE.

Sir John Ramsden's Huddersfield Estate Changes Hands.

The Huddersfield estate of Sir John Ramsden was yesterday sold for £1,300,000.

The purchaser is Mr. S. W. Copley, formerly of Huddersfield, and the arrangement is that Mr. Copley shall offer the estate to the Huddersfield Corporation.

If the Corporation declines to buy or fails to secure the necessary powers, he will undertake full responsibility for the: estate, which was founded in the reign of Elizabeth, and comprises an area of over 6,000 acres, the greater part of the borough of Huddersfield.

Fifty years ago there was much legislation over tenant rights.
