Sarah Fearnside Livingstone (1879-1962) née Wood

Biography

Sarah Fearnside Wood was born on 27 July 1879 in Berry Brow, the daughter of commercial traveller George Arthur Wood and his wife Ada.

By 1901, the family was residing at 13 Fair Lea, Berry Brow.

She married engineer Joseph Edward Livingstone in 1904. The couple had six children, although three died prior to the 1911 Census:

  • Janie Livingstone (1906-1998)[1]
  • David Livingstone (1908-1991)[2]
  • George Livingstone (1910-1991)[3]

Her husband died in 1925 aged 47 and was buried on 23 September at Emmanuel Church, Lockwood.

She died aged 83 in 1962.

Suffrage

Sarah Fearnside Livingstone was a Suffragette and a member of the Huddersfield branch of the Women's Social and Political Union (WSPU).
