The following extract is from Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922 (2014) by J. Margaret Stansfield:

FEARNES, SAM ILLINGWORTH. Corporal. No 33381. Transferred to No 24017, 41st Company, Labour Corps. Son of Mrs Emily Fearnes. Husband of Amy Fearnes of New Town, Holmfirth. Employed as an engine tenter at Underbank Mill. Enlisted 1917. Died in Germany, 28.3.1919, aged 28 years. Buried COLOGNE SOUTHERN CEMETERY, GERMANY. Grave location:- Plot 3, Row E, Grave 8.
