Robert Sykes (c.1885-1915)

Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922
The following extract is from Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922 (2014) by J. Margaret Stansfield:
- SYKES, ROBERT. Gunner. No 50519. 'S' Battery, Royal Horse Artillery. Born Lepton, Huddersfield. Son of Mr Edward Sykes, Field House, Lepton. Employed as a clerk at the Lancashire and Yorkshire Bank, Market Place, Huddersfield. Enlisted in the R.H.A. in 1908 and had been stationed in India for seven years. Was serving with the Indian Expeditionary Force in Mesopotamia, where he died of wounds on 23.11.1915, 30 years. Has no known grave. Commemorated BASRA MEMORIAL TO THE MISSING, IRAQ.
