Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922
The following extract is from Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922 (2014) by J. Margaret Stansfield:
- HOBSON, ROBERT. Lance Corporal. No 24244. 1/5th Battalion Northumberland Fusiliers. Born Mossley. Husband of Ann Charlesworth Hobson, 2, Ing Head, Marsden. Employed as a mule minder by Messrs Robinson Brothers, Clough Lea Mills, Marsden. Was a well known local football player. Enlisted July 1916. Embarked for France in November, 1916. Was taken prisoner on 27.5.1918, after being seriously wounded. Died as a Prisoner of War in Germany, 14.8.1918, aged 29 years. Buried NIEDERZWEHREN CEMETERY, CASSEL, GERMANY. Grave location:- Plot 1, Row G, Grave 16.
