River Ribble

The River Ribble is a tributary of the River Holme, which it joins at Holmfirth.

The river begins as an outflow from Holme Styes Reservoir where it is joined by Fox Clough. Prior to the reservoir being built, the river began at the confluence of Reynard Clough, Hades Clough and Long Ing Dike.

Historically, the river formed part of the boundary between the townships of Cartworth and Wooldale, although old O.S. maps indicate that the river has been re-routed in several places.
