Ordnance Survey First Series: Yorkshire 261

The Yorkshire 261 sheet was part of the Ordnance Survey's "First Series" of county maps and was surveyed between 1848 and 1851.

Details

The Ordnance Survey first undertook a full surveying of the country between 1842 and 1893, which resulted in the "First Series" of maps. These were published as a series of large sheets for each county at a scale of six inches to the mile or 1:10,560.

The subsequent 1890s revision of the six inch map was subdivided into four separate sheets: CCLXI N.W., CCLXI N.E., CCLXI S.W. and CCLXI S.E.
