Ordnance Survey First Series: Yorkshire 247

The personnel of the Ordnance Survey first undertook a full surveying of the country between 1842 and 1893, which resulted in the "First Series" maps. These were published as a series of large sheets for each county at a scale of six inches to the mile.

The Yorkshire 247 sheet (published 1855) was surveyed between 1848 and 1849, and covers the following area:

The subsequent 1890s revision of the six inch map was subdivided into four separate sheets: CCXLVII N.W., CCXLVII N.E., CCXLVII S.W. and CCXLVII S.E.
