Ordnance Survey First Series: Yorkshire 231

The personnel of the Ordnance Survey first undertook a full surveying of the country between 1842 and 1893, which resulted in the "First Series" maps. These were published as a series of large sheets for each county at a scale of six inches to the mile.

The Yorkshire 231 sheet was surveyed in the late 1840s, and covers the following area:

The subsequent 1890s revision of the six inch map was subdivided into four separate sheets: CCXXXI N.W., CCXXXI N.E., CCXXXI S.W. and CCXXXI S.E.
