The following extract is from Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922 (2014) by J. Margaret Stansfield:
- HAIGH, OLIVER. Able Seaman. No J/52167. Royal Navy. HMS Lady Cory Wright. Born Milnsbridge. Son of Wilfred and Elizabeth Ann Haigh, 34, Rufford Road, Milnsbridge. Attended Milnsbridge Wesleyan Sunday School and Ramsden Street Chapel, Huddersfield. Was a member of the Milnsbridge Church Institute. Employed as an under-engineer by Messrs C. and J. Hirst and Sons Limited, Commercial Mills, Milnsbridge. Enlisted in the Navy in 1916. Was married on 27.2.1918 to Nellie H. Haigh, 105 Spring Place, Manchester Road, Milnsbridge. Killed in action involving a submarine in the English Channel, 26.3.1918, aged 25 years. Has no known grave. Commemorated PLYMOUTH NAVAL MEMORIAL TO THE MISSING.
