Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922

The following extract is from Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922 (2014) by J. Margaret Stansfield:

SHORT, OLIVER CROMWELL. Corporal. No 14400. 8th Battalion Duke of Wellington's Regiment. Born Coventry 5.11.1884. Educated at Coventry Schools. Husband of Mrs Edith Short, 6 Somerset Place, Mulberry Street, Moldgreen. Employed as a painter and paper-hanger by Messrs Littlewood. Enlisted 3.10.1914. Killed in action in the Dardenelles on 21.8.1915, aged 30 years. Has no known grave. Commemorated HELLES MEMORIAL TO THE MISSING.
