The following extract is from Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922 (2014) by J. Margaret Stansfield:
- SYKES, NORMAN. Private. No G/20128. 1st Battalion Royal West Kent Regiment. Born Huddersfield. Son of Howard and Lavinia Sykes, Field View, 251 Bradford Road, Fartown. Educated at Almondbury Grammar School. Employed as a mungo manufacturer. Single. Reported missing, presumed killed, at Passchendaele on 26.10.1917. Has no known grave. Commemorated TYNE COT MEMORIAL TO THE MISSING.
