- MELLOR, NORMAN. Private. No 31720. 13th Battalion York and Lancaster Regiment (1st Barnsley Pals). Formerly No 7974 Duke of Wellington's Regiment. Son of Benson and Mary Jane Mellor, of Netherton. Husband of Emily Mellor, Stone Pit Hill, Netherton. Employed as a cloth finisher by Messrs J. Wrigley and Sons, of Netherton. Killed in action at Gavrelle during the Battle of Arras on 11.5.1917, aged 25 years. Buried ORCHARD DUMP CEMETERY. Grave location:- Plot 5, Row G, Grave 6.
