According to Edward Law, the Masons Arms was situated on the north side of Beast Market, with John Kaye named as the innkeeper in 1778. Kaye was a stonemason and the father of noted local mason Joseph Kaye (c.1779-1858). The inn was pulled down in 1802.


The exact location of the inn is not known.
