Louie Fethney (1898-1918)

An ongoing project to commemorate and research the lives of those who appear on war memorials and rolls of honour in the local area, who served in the military, or whose deaths were linked to conflict.


Louie Fethney was born on 23 June 1898 in Bradford, the daughter of Peter Fethney and his wife Clara (née Popplewell). By 1901, the family had moved to Galashiels, Scotland.

FETHNEY, LOUIE. Assistant Inspector Munitions for the Government. Born Bradford 23.6.1898. Daughter of Peter and Clara Fethney, 246 Halifax Old Road, Grimscar, Huddersfield. Educated Oaklea Academy, Galashiels, Scotland. Single. Employed at the Naval Munition Works, Crosland Moor. Killed at Crosland Moor in an explosion, 6.5.1918, aged 20 years. Buried EDGERTON CEMETERY, HUDDERSFIELD.
