Reviews

The Bioscope (08/Jul/1915):

Lily’s Birthday. — Staged in a most pleasing manner, this comedy is also remarkable for very fine outdoor scenery, a beautiful part of Yorkshire being the locale of a very successful film. Miss Lily Ward, as the girl who will have her own way, and her choice, is delightfully naive and, with her sweetheart, carries out various cute schemes which put an unexpected end to the garden party. Quite free from average knockabout business and should appeal to all classes. Photographic quality up to best standard of this company. (August 26th. 438 ft.)

Kinematograph Weekly (08/Jul/1915):

Lily’s Birthday (Co). — (Bamforth). — Like other girls Lily has a birthday, but she does not like crowds — Alfie by himself is more in her line — and so she sets to work to worry the guests and pa. By the aid of various garden utensils, a strong glass and the sun, she succeeds in setting the crowd by the ears. She drowns them at one moment, burns their parasols the next, makes them hide from imaginary lightning and other dangerous happenings. Alfie is a good standby, and the pair win their way eventually. Released August 26th, length 438 ft.
