Like Waves of the Sea (1982) by J.P. Beveridge
Like Waves of the Sea was published in 1982 and is based on a notebook kept by James P. Beveridge, an employee of Huddersfield Corporation Waterworks. The text contains details and eye-witness accounts of the flash flood of Whit Monday 1944 which killed three people:
- Donald Riley (aged 42 of Spring Leigh, Woodhead Road)
- Mrs. Dorothea Schofield (aged 34 of Towngate, Holmfirth)
- Miss Maude Wimpenny (aged 76 of Victoria, Holmfirth)

James P. Beveridge was born on 17 April 1897 and worked as a civil engineer. By 1939, he was residing at the house adjoining Blackmoorfoot Reservoir. He died on 1 March 1966 and his works remain under copyright until 1 January 2037.
