The cornerstone of Slaithwaite Liberal Association's club was laid on Saturday 8 December 1883 by Maria Johanna Beaumont, the wife of Henry Frederick Beaumont of Whitley Hall.[1]

Liberal politician Lord Rosebery[2] officially opened the club on Thursday 22 October 1885.[3]

The building had become Slaithwaite Civic Hall by the early 1950s.
