Leonard Sowden (c.1897-1918)

Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922

The following extract is from Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922 (2014) by J. Margaret Stansfield:

SOWDEN, LEONARD. Rifleman. No 43647. 16th Battalion County of London Regiment, attached to the King's Royal Rifle Corps. Formerly No 31498 Duke of Wellington's Regiment. Born Milnsbridge. Son of Mr and Mrs Arthur Sowden, 10 High Street, Scapegoat Hill, Golcar. Employed by Messrs Joseph Hoyle and Sons, Prospect Mills, Longwood. Attended Scapegoat Hill Baptist Chapel. Killed in action, 24.8.1918. Has no known grave. Commemorated VIS-en-ARTOIS MEMORIAL TO THE MISSING.
