Proposed New Baptist Chapel.

There is at present situated close to the moorland, and far from the busy scenes of men, a chapel known as the Pole Moor Baptist chapel. This place of worship was erected upwards of sixty years ago, and though the inhabitants are scatted and mostly poor weavers, yet each Sunday morning the edifice is crowded with overflowing congregations. Attached to the chapel is a school equally flourishing. The present pastor is the Rev. W.H. Holmes, a zealous yet humble minister. The success of the cause has led to a determination to provide a new chapel if the funds can be raised. On Monday afternoon the members and friends held a meeting, and after enjoying tea together subscriptions were entered into to an amount exceeding £600! — a noble effort, which deserves the aid and encouragement of more wealthy friends.
