Lawrence C. Crabtree (1896-1918)

Biography

Lawrence C. Crabtree was the son of engineer Robert Crabtree.

He married Minnie Cooke of 31 Corby Street, Birkby, daughter of builder Joseph Cooke, on 2 June 1917 at St. John's Church, Huddersfield. By that time, Lawrence was already a 2nd Lieutenant.

Following her husband's death, Minnie moved to 144 Lydgate Lane, Crookes, Sheffield.

CRABTREE, LAWRENCE C. 2nd Lieutenant. 2nd Battalion West Yorkshire Regiment. Born Lower Brow, Paddock, 4.1.1896. Son of Robert and Sarah Crabtree, The Lodge, Edgerton House, Huddersfield. Educated at Thomas Street Council School and Berry Brow Council School. Employed as an engineer. At the time of enlistment, was living at Castlehouses, Castle Hill. Husband of Minne Crabtree. Killed in action, 24.4.1918, at Villers-Bretonneux. Buried CRUCIFIX CORNER CEMETERY, VILLERS-BRETONNEUX. Grave location:- Plot 7, Row E, Grave 19.
