Joshua Major

Joshua Major was an English landscape gardener and designer, born near Doncaster in South Yorkshire.

He laid out the formal gardens of Meltham Hall circa 1840 for William Leigh Brook.

Towards the end of 1858, he began planning the Pleasure Grounds in Meltham with Charles Brook, which were laid out in early 1859.

His papers are held by the University of Leeds.[1]
