Joseph Garside (c.1880-1917)

Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922

The following extract is from Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922 (2014) by J. Margaret Stansfield:

GARSIDE, JOSEPH. Private. No 41924. 1/5th Battalion York and Lancaster Regiment. Born Slaithwaite. Lived 127 Royd Street, Hill Top, Slaithwaite. Employed as a fettler by Messrs Pogson and Company, Bridge Street Mills, Slaithwaite. Was a member of the Slaithwaite Socialist Institute and a playing member of the Slaithwaite juniors football club. Enlisted April 1916. Embarked for France after three months training. Reported missing, presumed killed, 9.10.1917, aged 37 years. Buried TYNE COT CEMETERY. Grave location:- Plot 28, Row H, Grave 22.
