Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922

The following extract is from Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922 (2014) by J. Margaret Stansfield:

AINLEY, JOSEPH, MM. Corporal. No 15981. 8th Battalion Duke of Wellington's Regiment. Son of John Thomas and Clara Ainley, 13 Whiteley Street, Milnsbridge. Worked for Messrs Crowther Brothers, Stanley Mills, Milnsbridge. Served in Egypt, Gallipoli and France. Killed in action, 11.8.1917, aged 21 years. Has no known grave. Commemorated on the MENIN GATE MEMORIAL TO THE MISSING.
