Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922

The following extract is from Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922 (2014) by J. Margaret Stansfield:

WIMPENNY, JOHN. Private. No 13143. 'A' Company, 2nd Battalion Duke of Wellington's Regiment. Born Birch Road, Berry Brow, Huddersfield, 15.10.1889. Son of Tim and Mary Ann Wimpenny, 35 Back Lane, Berry Brow. Educated Berry Brow Council School. Employed as a fettler by Messrs John Brooke and Sons Limited, Armitage Bridge Mills. Single. Enlisted 7.9.1914. Killed in action at Fampoux on 3.5.1917 during the Battle of Arras. He was 27 years of age. Has no known grave. Commemorated ARRAS MEMORIAL TO THE MISSING.
