The following extract is from Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922 (2014) by J. Margaret Stansfield:

WHITEHEAD, JOHN JOE. Private. No 38110. 6th Battalion The Yorkshire Regiment. Born Greenfield. Husband of Alice Ann Whitehead, 17 Royds Terrace, Marsden. Employed as a weaver at Bank Bottom Mills, Marsden. Was a member of Marsden Socialist Club. Enlisted September 1916. Embarked for France 31.12.1916. Killed in action, 21.4.1918, aged 35 years. Buried DIVION COMMUNAL CEMETERY. Grave location:- Grave No 3.
