Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922

The following extract is from Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922 (2014) by J. Margaret Stansfield:

HIRST, JOHN. Private. No 14908. 2nd Battalion Duke of Wellington's Regiment. Lived Round Close, Hade Edge, Holmfirth. Married, with three children. Known locally as 'Jack O' Dodds'. Employed in the teasing department at Washpit Mills. Killed in action at Flers, 9.10.1916, aged 32 years. Has no known grave. Commemorated THIEPVAL MEMORIAL TO THE MISSING.
