John Henry Field (1843-1920)

Together with his spinster sister, Emma, John Henry Field was the first proprietor of the Castle Refreshment Rooms in Beaumont Park.

Biography

Emma Field died suddenly at around 8:10pm on 8 January 1890 of a suspected heart attack. Whilst walking past the Milton Church in Huddersfield, she complained of feeling ill and collapsed. Her companion, Luther Day, helped her into the church porch where she died a few minutes later.[1] Her probate record listed effects to the value of £205 18s. 8d.
