John George Bodker (c.1892-1917)

Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922

The following extract is from Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922 (2014) by J. Margaret Stansfield:

BODKER, JOHN GEORGE. Lieutenant. York and Lancaster Regiment, attached 2/5th Battalion Duke of Wellington's Regiment. Son of the late Mrs Bodker of Folkestone and son in law of Mr Tom Bentley of Halifax Old Road. Commenced his business career with Messrs W. Holmes and Company Limited, engineers of Turnbridge and later served with a firm of colliery proprietors in Durham. Enlisted in a Territorial battalion and obtained his commission in February, 1915. Married and living at 132 Halifax Old Road. Killed in action at the Battle of Cambrai, 20.11.1917, aged 25 years. Buried in RUYAULCOURT MILITARY CEMETERY. Grave location:- Row F, Grave 9.
