The following extract is from Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922 (2014) by J. Margaret Stansfield:
- FOX, JOHN. Private. No 241331. 1/5th Battalion Duke of Wellington's Regiment. Husband of Nellie Fox, 178 Albert Street, Lockwood, Huddersfield. Was employed by Messrs Taylor and Lodge of Rashcliffe. Was a member of the Dyers Club. Killed in action, 3.9.1916, aged 34 years. Has no known grave. Commemorated THIEPVAL MEMORIAL TO THE MISSING.
