The following extract is from Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922 (2014) by J. Margaret Stansfield:

GOMERSAL, JOHN CHARLES. Private. No 40242. 9th Battalion West Yorkshire Regiment. Born 12 Colne Bridge, Bradley, 8.4.1889. Son of Albert Gomersall, 12 Colne Bridge, Bradley. Educated at Bradley Church of England School. Employed as a cloth finisher by Messrs H. Walker and Sons of Mirfield. Single. Enlisted in 1916. Reported wounded and missing, 1.10.1918. Has no known grave. Commemorated VIS-en-ARTOIS MEMORIAL TO THE MISSING.
